Some cities remain on the surface. They re-emerge in a worn page, in a folded edge, in a light that filters through the dust. Here, time settles. The paper gathers, the mark interrupts, the material mends. Each work holds a passage between the inside and the outside, between what surfaces and what lies in wait. The window opens a gap rather than a landscape. The page holds a voice.

François Bonjour works precisely at this point, where memory and surface meet. Old fragments, tears, inscriptions, glazes, the slightest traces. Everything remains close to the essential, with a rigour that manages to stay alive. The gaze enters gently, as if into a room that is already inhabited. And from that moment on, the city begins to speak, in a whisper.
